Volunteers make a big difference in the lives of young learners!

It truly takes a village to raise a child, and you can help in ways that you may not have realized. Each of our centers has a variety of needs that volunteers just like you help us to fill. Whether you prefer to work directly with children in the classroom, with staff in one of our offices, with meals in our kitchens or outdoors on our grounds, we can use your time and talent.

Positions at All Centers

  • Classroom Assistance: Our classrooms need volunteers to help staff with reading stories, computer learning activites, play time and art-based education. Spaces are open every Monday through Thurday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.; our Lewiston classroom needs volunteers Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Consecutive shifts of three hours work best for the children, but we can schedule one- to two-hour shifts.
  • Office Work: Clerical opportunties include typing and data entry, shredding or copying of documents, assembling notebooks and other clerical duties.
  • Facilites and Grounds Maintenance: You can help us with painting and general cleaning of buildings and facilities, playground maintenance and bark raking, landscape and garden duties such as weeding and care of grass areas, flowers, shrubs and trees.

Positions at Selected Centers

  • Car Wash: We need people to drive each of our 10 company vehicles to a car wash facility, wait for up to two hours while the vehicle is cleaned and return the vehicle to our Administrative Offices. Or, if you prefer, you may handwash a vehicle on your own. (Lewiston center only.)
  • Reception Desk: Your help in answering our phone would be most helpful. We normally need phone coverage during the lunch hours, Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., but we occasionally have openings from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Lewiston center only.)volunteer@lcecp.org
  • Kitchen Assistance: We need help cutting food and serving trays to children, Monday through Friday, and schedule volunteers in one-, two- or three-hour shifts. (Craigmont, Kamiah, Lewiston, Orofino, Riggins and Weippe centers only.)
